Looks Like Someone Brought a Machete to a Race War

In news that unbelievable yet sadly true, it seems after Robert Rodriguez introduced the Machete trailer on Cinco de Mayo, and added in an extra Arizona message, some (unhinged? over-reactive?) people are scared that Machete may spark a race war.

Now, just to be clear, Machete is another homage to the grind-house movies of the 70s. In this case, Danny Trejo (Machete) goes on a revenge / rampage after being betrayed. Plenty of violence, lots of angry Mexicans but, really, someone is taking this film SERIOUSLY?

Well, at least one person is, and that person is Alex Jones of infowars.com and The Alex Jones Show. I don't know what's more disconcerting - the fact he seems deadly serious about the issue, or the fact other people may share his views.

Needless to say, I'm going to say Machete is not going to cause riots in the streets, in Arizona or anywhere else. Robert Rodriguez - the same guy who made the Spy Kids movies - was simply jumping on a hot-button bandwagon to promote the film. Plus, any films that had to potential for Lindsey Lohan to get smacked down by an angry Mexican? Gold
