New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave This Week: Hope You Like the Hood

Not a very big week for new releases, but at least the one big entry looks entertaining.
1) Hope you look Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott teaming up once again, because Robin Hood
is really the only game in town. While it didn't exactly destroy the box office, it looks like it will be a nice action/adventure - much like the last time the two teamed up with Gladiator. Will it be as good? No. But it looks good enough to hold my interest.
2) The only other movie that looks any good is the Spanish El Secreto de Sus Ojos
or The Secret in Their Eyes. It did win the Academy Award for best foreign film, and it looks like it would be a good mystery / thriller to pop in and enjoy. Hopefully you're not one of those people who loath subtitles.
3) All the other good releases come courtesy of blu-ray and leading the pack is American Beauty (Sapphire Series)
. The Sapphire Series may not be quite Criterion, but it comes pretty close. While American Beauty may not be my favorite film, it won a whole slew of awards and Kevin Spacey is pretty excellent. Speaking of Criterion, Charade
is also being released. You can't go wrong with Grant and Hepburn in this classic suspense film.
