I'm not ashamed to admit that many of my favorite films involve that completely and utterly baffling me or just cause me to go WTF? at any given time.

Two icons of horror are enjoying a bit of a resurgence lately - in two different ways.
On one hand you have vampires. Unlike blood-suckers of old, today's vampires are shinier, younger and to be swooned over. Thank Stephenie Meyer and her successful Twilight Series. Having experienced my first of the new 3-D films in Avatar, I was impressed. However, the success of Avatar in the 3-D market changed the game.

I've learned quite a few things from entering so many films onto our database. But for this, I'll stick with westerns. I'll admit, it's not my favorite genre by any stretch, but it's a genre with a rich history.

With the recent announcement that Christopher Nolan is returning to helm the 3rd Batman, and that Spiderman is getting a prequel reboot - one has to wonder when the superhero bubble will burst.

I am constantly trying to find the next film that will make my guts churn, my eyes avert, my jaw drop at sheer sight of what I'm witnessing. Is it out of morbid curiosity that I seek out these films? Am I so desensitized that only the most extreme cases can now have an impact?

No not THAT 500 Club, I mean the 500-movie club. I'm almost there! Some people might think owning 500 movies is madness. Back in the day, there was nothing I looked forward to than Saturday morning. You get up early, watch hours of cartoons and then if it was a nice day go out and run around like kids were apt to do.
Yes those were the days, but apparently filmmakers around my age or a little older also remember those days, but instead of cherishing those golden memories, they're trying to cash in.

Whether you love it or hate it, there's no denying that Avatar is monster. I truly thought Titanic record was going to be #1 for a much longer time, but Cameron proved that he's no one-hit wonder.
