When I saw this movie in theatres last summer, I liked it but felt somewhat confused by the plot. A repeat viewing on DVD made a lot of things make sense. There are a few too many twists and double-crossings for my taste and patience, but the effects are good and it's enjoyable to see these characters in another adventure. Stick through the credits to see a final scene.

All I can say is that I fell asleep while watching this movie. Now, if you know me, I NEVER fall asleep while watching a movie... unless it's really, really bad (like "Poseidon"). Sure, the actions scenes were grand and there were humour here and there, but it ultimately didn't pay off. I really wanted to like this movie because I respect its predecessors. I just wish that the script could've been smarter, the storylines made more sense, and Orlando Bloom got a personality. Upon watching the first two, I know that this movie had the potential to do that and more. A big pre-summer disappointment. Catch it on DVD instead.

Fine special effects and swashbuckling adventure. Some funny monkey scenes and short man shooting small hand held cannon.

Enough action to keep you wanting more, plus a better story than the second installment. It falters in that it tries to introduce too much in too short a time. Less is more - still, a rousing adventure that is fun to watch.
