A nice idea and decent cast are let down by an incredibly superficial script that never goes anywhere and has very little to say. Ultimately empty and pointless. |

Travolta is good, but the film is a huge mixed bag. |

Charming, funny, romantic and heartbreaking. Travolta is completely lovable, as is Sedgwick. Has one of my top ten romantic scenes of all times. |

Tuco rent thinking this Jennifer Connelly horror film. Tuco shocked to see washed up actor, John Travolta in sappy crying fest. This not great horror film but instead boring film. Tuco says next time Travolta has insomnia he just need to watch this movie not learn new languages. Tuco say more, but tuco fall asleep before tuco finish. |

A sweet John Travolta that mixes in drama, romance, comedy and fantasy together. It's uneven, but overall is not a bad film. I just never felt any real connection to it, but Travolta fans should definitely check this one out. |

"Phenomenon" is about a small town auto mechanic (Travolta) who experiences something he can only describe as being "a light" and suddenly has peculiar powers such as being able to learn to speak Portuguese in 20 minutes or understanding Dianetics. At issue is, will these powers, which make him the object of fear and awe by the townsfolk, help of hurt his chances with his reluctant love interest (Sedgwick).
This movie was ok, sort of an off kilter chick flick that Travolta fans will probably enjoy, but its not one that I go out of my way to see. |
