Thje movie is about basically a guy buy the name of a man named maverick (Gibson) who escually is a con man. Who has one goal make it to the biggest poker game in the state along the way he meets sheriff Zan Cooper (Garner) and Annabelle Bransford ( Foster) who all happen to be going the same way well maverick seems to always need money to play the game but he ends up getting on the bad side of Angel( Molina) a crook well they all end up the boat and play poker
