Bad Burton Movie

Mars Attacks! was a great film, but it lacked in certain parts of the film.
Usually, I love Tim Burton films for their story, but this story was lacking. Although I got the idea of martians attacking, the way the martians interacted with the humans seemed really strange to me, as well as the idea of martians attacking for no reason. Plus, the way the martians died was just silly. Most of the jokes that were made during the film weren't very good, but the martians reminded me of Achmed the Dead Terrorist, so that was a plus.
The characters were good, but some of the interaction looked stages, almost as if the characters were forcing themselves to talk to each other. Some of the lines the characters said seemed either out of character or extremely forced. Everything seemed staged, …

A cute, fairly silly film

Recently, the Hubble telescope took pictures of a fleet of spacecraft heading to Earth under a flag of peace. The lead spacecraft, with the Martian Ambassador, lands in a Nevada desert in what can only be called a media circus, but the unexpected happens -- the martians pull out their weapons and start shooting.
The first thing you will notice is the incredible cast. One performance that stands out is Jack Nichelson, who plays two roles. He is near perfect as the President of the United States, and the other, more minor role, is very funny. Another performance that makes this movie special, even if it's not that big of a role until near the end of the film, is of the late Sylvia Sidney as "Grandma Norris," and only because this is her final role before her death three years after …

The world was once at peace, but then we found out that there were Martians in our atmosphere. Now the world can do nothing except die at the hand of beings with a cruel sense of humor in “Mars Attacks!”
Man, after watching this movie I wanted to watch every episode of “Mystery Science Theater 3000” straight through. Director Tim Burton is a big fan of old horror movies, and this was his way of paying tribute to the best of the worst. Unfortunately, most people didn’t understand this, and in return the movie got very poor reviews and a pretty bad rep. This is also partially due to “Independence Day” coming out earlier the same year.
