I remember not really liking this movie but not hating it either. I rewatched it and to my surprise, I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure what I was thinking before. But this was a fun light change of pace for Sean Connery and a charming showcase for Lesley-Anne Down. Director and writer Michael Crichton handles the action and intrigue with finesse.

Quick and snappy in it's dialogue and action. The scenes of thievery have mild excitement. The tone is light and fun, with little at stake. Fans of heist films will get some enjoyment.

The fine cast headed by Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland played their roles splendidly and realistically. The elaborate setting places the audience in the movie. With such authentic train terminals, Victorian homes with furnishings to boot, and historically accurate costumes, "The Great Train Robbery" is an excellent Victorian Era piece.
