Terence Malick paints a portrait of the music industry that's executed with his signature experimental/art-house approach, and once again creates a film that I overall admired, but didn't exactly like.

I really don't get the hate towards Terrence Malick. I've only seen one of his films (The New World) and found that to be pretty good. SONG TO SONG isn't a good movie but it's not bad either. It's a drama set against the backdrop of the music industry with all these characters and their romantic entanglements driving the plot. It's well shot and the acting is fine. I can see people being annoyed by the handheld camerawork and the underplayed nature of the performances. The plot is very thin for what it is and it could have been cut down to 90 minutes instead of two hours. If you like the actors, it won't hurt to see this.

"The world wants to be deceived" Song to Song is not really a movie, but more of an experience. The feeling of adventure and freedom like in most Malick movies. Something I felt was missing from "Knights of Cups". While still not having a straight forward narrative that audience members are gonna hate, just like how Malick isn't for everyone. The film captures life of are characters daily activities, shot a very long time ago.
