This was my favorite film of last year, hands down. What a great story and by a great crew headed by wonderfully talented visionary director Henry Selick of "Nightmare Before Christmas" fame...and no, Tim Burton didn't direct "Nightmare Before Christmas." Beautiful animation and stunning 3-D effects makes "Coraline" one of the greatest films of 2008.

Lets just get our facts straight for this one. This movie is awesome. There's no questions about it. Knowing how to make this, I think they did a great job blending each frame by frame shot. Some say the green screen effect in a stop-motion animation is cheating but on the contrary, it makes it more realistic. The voicing is well done and allows you to "fell" what the character is really like. The 3D version is a must see because you don't get your money's worth seeing it flat on a screen. The plot is fair. I felt that the neat ideas cooked up by the writers were so good that I wanted to see more. I would sadly give this movie a 3 out of 4 for the 2D version but for the 3D version (which I liked more), I'll give it a 3.5 out of 4

Great 3D, great animation, so-so story. We were happy to see that there was no smoking in this film! Coraline got a SmokeScreeners rating of No Butts. For more information visit www.smokescreeners.org

Mixed feelings about this movie. I saw this in 3D and it was very beautify and visually stunning. However, the story was somewhat dull and made the movie drag. At some points I felt like I was watching someone play a video game with the cheesy "how will she solve the mystery of the missing child eyes" scenes. It was definitely a fantastically animated movie. I was disappointed with the rest. Watch this one in the theater and 3D, without that aspect the movie will be decent at best. Not one I will be rewatching anytime soon. I would have given this movie 2 stars if it was not for the 3D.
