Great Sci-Fi

I can sought of understand why this movie has mixed reviews. If you love Sci-Fi and are in the mood to watch a movie that you have time to concentrate on without interuption then I think you will really enjoy it. If you just want light entertainment this is not the right movie to watch.
For me this was a great movie. It troubles me that many scientists put so much faith in mans discoveries, ideas, and theories based on a few experiments and trusting their interpretation of hopefully undoctored results (almost blind faith), yet anything undiscovered or not yet understood simply cannot exist (We really have not changed that much from the middle ages). I see so much bogus science, I have as much faith in science (at least other people's science) as I do in life after death, God, etc.

King Of Sci-Fi

A virtual rarity in sci-fi movies and soon to be an extinction based on the box office totals of the past few years, Contact delivers a perfect blend of budget and story to produce the best sci-fi movie ever made. The age old question of "Are we alone?" at the forefront is tackled with great thought and believability and the answer only raises more questions. While certainly the best sci-fi is idea/plot driven doesn't mean the actors can be taken for granted. Foster shines, especially in the later travel sequences when facial expressions tell the story, a lesser actress would have certainly made it cheesy or unbelievable. McConaughey proves to be a non factor and keeps his shirt on through most of the movie. It will be a long time before before this perfect storm is recreated in the...
