Did you know that Tim Burton made a movie just like this in 1984. Tim Burton is back at he's best. The Visual are great.

While it isn't exactly a classic like The Nightmare Before Christmas, this little remake is relatively harmless.

Harmless animated film, with good intentions. The humor's not consistant and none of the human characters are interesting, save for the science teacher (who is underused). Sparky, the dog, is the saving grace. There is much meandering in the middle and the ending just desolves into a bunch of routine homages, and recreations, of scenes from classic horror/sci-f films. There is a message about letting go of your pets, but it's lost amidts the confusion and the final moments feel like a cop-out.

Like most Tim Burton movies and Winona Ryder movies, it's pretty good. The story was interesting. There was a lot of cool stuff in it. However, if you've seen most of the trailers to it, then you've pretty much seen the movie.
