This is how B-movies should be made. It's a lean 90 minutes of action, adventure, and plenty of gory violence to spare. Take any 'men on a mission' story and transport it to Ancient Rome then you have an idea of what Centurion is about. Special mention should be made about Michael Fassbender's strong turn as the heroic lead and especially Olga Kurylenko as the villainous warrior opposed to Roman rule. It's tightly plotted and packed with exciting battles. Neil Marshall's direction gives the film a hard nihilistic edge to its advantage.

An okay film that I did like, but it was a bit too predictable and gory. Fassbender is good as always. I would have preferred more action over gore; gore is fine, but the battle sequences were hardly battle scenes at all, just blood. I loved the tone and setting of the film. Reminded me a lot of The Eagle which I also liked.

Keeps the violence of Braveheart, but doesn't have the dramatic story line to make it memorable. If you like action, this would be a recommended movie for a rainy day - just don't expect much more from the film.
