Delayed adaptation of the classic adventure novel that was actually filmed in 1994 but released in 2001. The movie is pretty rushed to get to seeing Brosnan shipwrecked on a desert island. His friendship with cannibal turned companion Friday is genuinely moving. There are some decent action scenes where they fight hostile cannibals. It clocks at ninety minutes but maybe it should had been two hours to flesh things out better. The cinematography is beautiful.
