Sam Cahill once again went out to Afghanistan as a soldier, an image he has established besides being a family-man. Days after his departure, his family, his wife and two daughters heard that he was killed on operation. His younger brother, Tommy, who just came out from prison, felt the responsibility of caring the family of hist lost brother. But then, Sam comes back and he has to step back.

Okay. My sister complained about the conclusion, she didn't like it. On the other hand, I liked how it turned out. The story seemed to be SOS (same old story), yes, but no. There is something more in it than the familiar plot. Acting was undeniably good. Tobey Maguire performed excellent in this film, with a good support by Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal.

It was a good watch for …

I find one of my major annoyances about the movie industry is why they make a movie trailer and portray a movie to be completely different from it's actual story. In the trailer this movie is made out to be almost a slasher-esque tale of a man who loses his sanity when he comes back from war and begins torturing his family. In actuality thats far from what the movie is actually like. Unlike the trailer I think this movie was trying to show a real side to the post tramatic stress disorder some solders experience when they return. If it had been a life time movie of something along those lines I could see it being a decent watch, a humanistic tale.. Very far from the thrilling suspense promised to us in the trailer but not a complete wash. The movie is very slow moving, and with that …

Brothers is an amazing movie hands down. Toby Maguire surely stole the show in this one his performance was a tour de force power hit to home(Literally). With his blank look pale face driven by nightmares and self blame. If your a person that says Maguire's nothing more than Spider-Man watch this movie. As for Jake Gyllenhaal He always delievers in his perfomances he's never a let down in my eyes so I wasent surprised about him I seen this coming from him. For Natalie Portman she pasted as being Maguire's wife she did terrific nobody could have done it better. Baliee Madison played a terrific part as Toby's daughter she showed so much emotion something I've never seen a little girl play. This is a movie that must be watch it's filled with emotion, enough tenison to collapse a building. …

Brothers is a very solid movie. It is well acted by Jake Gyllenhaall and Natalie Portman (why couldn't she act this great in Star Wars - I blame George Lucas). This movie is not best picture nomination material (though I didn't think The Reader was either).

The last several war movies that I have seen have all been very similar in nature. Guy goes over seas, comes back, has a bad time and someone gets hurt. This remains true to this movie as well. Guy (Toby) goes overseas, comes back, hurts people. To be honest, this isn't much different.

The characters are actually really strong and the director does a good job of showing off the family. The pacing is fine as well. The music and cinematography are terrible and the ending is not really good either (reminds me of Stop …
