This is probably Cameron Crowe's most personal and autobiographical film and, thus, one of his best. It's filled with loving nods to classic music and rock journalism, some subtle humor, and, overall, memorable character performances. Plus, the soundtrack is awesome.

Although Almost Famous is a fictionalized account of a teenage journalist working for Rolling Stone magazine, director Cameron Crowe based it on his own experiences touring with rock bands, The Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Crowe's Magical Mystery Tour is an endearing and nostalgic look at a time of hope and idealism where the problems in the world could be solved by rock and roll and innocence was not yet lost. A bittersweet coming of age movie, which deals with friendship, family and the desire to be someone. An exuberant cast of fresh new faces, an awe inspiring soundtrack and an Oscar winning screenplay all help to make Almost Famous, almost perfect (if a little over-long).

Crowe's best. A semi-autobiographical tale that teaches us about the true meaning growing up and friendship. The music is great.

This movie is one of my all time favorites. It is a must see for any music lover. It looks back at a very interesting time in rock music, when all the wonderful rock was being replaced by aweful disco. The movie is dramatic and funny all at the same time. I have seen it many many times and still manage to laugh at all of the jokes (Jason Lee is hysterical in a very understated way). If you are not into rock music this is still a wonderful coming of age story about a young boy trying to find his place in an adult world. Did I mention the soundtrack is awesome?

Great acting, great music, great story. I love that Cameron Crowe wrote it based on his own experiences as a teenage rock writer.

A very interesting coming of age film that is only outdone by "The Graduate" (there may be others but nothing comes to my head). The acting is superb and the direction is rare. Unfortunately, Hudson is the leading lady. Yuck! Still see it.

One of the best coming-of-age films that also captures a moment in time perfectly. The music, the casting, the story - it all blends - meshes - into one of my personal favorite films. Simply leaves me amazed every time.
