An exciting underwater adventure from James Cameron which owes more to Close Encounters than Aliens. Harris and Mastrantonio spark off each other well and it debuted the SFX technology that brought the T1000 to life in Terminator 2. And despite what I'd been told, the special edition brings nothing more to the story except some overlong and unnecessary detail and a rather trite message about war being bad. No shit.

Technically, this film is a marvel and the underwater photography creates beautiful panoramic shots. Where the film really excels, however, is the emotional tension. Ed Harris exudes passion and Michael Biehn is stunningly creepy and intense.

This was quite good. I love Michael Biehn (from Terminator) and he's great as the bad guy. I think it's more of a Sci-Fi flick than plain action/adventure. Suspenseful and fun.

Cameron is at the top of his game here with sci-fi and cold war tension combining into a great thrill ride. For being made in 1989, the effects hold up remarkably well. A true classic.

Another Cameron masterpiece is brought to life with Harris and Mastrantonio. This movie does a great job with special effects, scifi elements, and of course a true feeling of being under water...trapped. One of the best movies of the 80's!

One of the greatest cold war inspired movies. The action keeps going while the performances by Ed Harris et al. are top notch. One of the best movies of all time.
