I'm not going to pretend I am "movie smart" enough to get this film. I found a lot of the sequences poetic and visually haunting, like viewing moving artwork, but I definitely did not fully grasp the plot. As an exercise in surrealism, it sort of works, but it's not the type of movie I would, quite honestly, pop into the DVD player for a repeat viewing. In my opinion, there are better Resnais films, as well.

I'm not going to claim I can really get into the story here - I'm not up on French cinema, but I do know that visually this film is stunning - beautiful and haunting and the music only adds the feeling of unease. It's like part dream, part memory and something, to me, entirely unique. Will require repeat viewings for sure.

Unfortunately, I didn't get this Resnais film. I hope to rewatch it and understand it more. I really wanted to like this film.

Brilliant movie! Pure poetry, romance and a dreamy sequence of shots, it just doesnt get any better then this, only French cinema can do something like this. Essential viewing for any serious movie buff. The lead actors, the camera, the cinematography is just top notch This is one of the reasons why i prefer art movies above anything else ;)
