2001: A Space Odyssey Movie Plots

Movie Plots

The film follows an alien monolith that is seen in each of the four different chapters, that are spread throughout space and time. The first chapter shows only a group of apes, living in a cave, about to die of starvation, and are slowly being picked off by predators. One day, an alien monolith appears, and changes the apes. They learn to use tools and show early signs of evolution. Ultimately, that's what this film is about. Evolution.

The next three chapters follow the monolith as it is found thousands of years later on the moon, as man is colonizing on it. Then, machine evolves when man creates the HAL 9000, a super-computer designed to control all functions on a space shuttle. The film follows all possible aspects of human evolution. -- Tino

Set in the future, mankind discovers a mysterious buried object on the moon. A set of astronauts and a super intelligent computer are sent off on a quest to discover its origin.
