A wonderful Marcel Carné film. All of the character have a reason to live or die. They are loved, duped, hard-working, fearful, sly, and filled with a joie de vivre. Recommended to anyone, as the oldie is a goodie. It is extremely well-paced and enjoyable.

One of the best movies to come out of France. Marcel Carné is my favorite french director.
