Even with a master like Ridley Scott at the helm, "Someone to Watch Over Me" just doesn't quite work. Tom Berenger and Mimi Rogers have good chemistry, but they fall in love so easily that the complicated relationship they form becomes just too hard to believe.

Uneven cop thriller that’s more like a romantic drama than an action movie. Tom Berenger and Mimi Rogers both fall in love really because there wouldn’t be a movie otherwise. But Lorraine Bracco is a refreshing foil to the familiar setup as Berenger’s brassy no-nonsense wife. It’s got a fairly suspenseful climax though and since it’s directed by Ridley Scott, the movie looks great. This is not a bad movie but I can see why it’s not mentioned that often. For a Ridley Scott film, it’s pretty straightforward and doesn’t shake things up very much.
