Funny Comedy or Big F/X Movie?

I'm split on this one. I like the comedy and I thought the film as a majority was pretty funny. However, there was some inconsistancy. I'd be watching a Will Ferral comedy one moment and the next I was seeing a summer blockbuster big F/X movie. To me the two just don't go together. This made me feel like I was missing out on the fun.
