The movie that drops names.

Forest Gump's whole appeal is it shows historical events which people know, and people find that interesting. Its overall narrative is nothing special, but the clips of the historical footage is why everyone likes it so much I suspect, since you go oh look he's with Kennedy or he is with Nixon or with John Lennon. If you took that out would people still like it. Maybe they would I know I did not like it. Yes I saw the appeal in seeing him in the footage but it actually was just a gimmick. As for Forest himself he was just kind of annoying and Hanks really gave an annoying performance.

Oscar Win Best Actor Tom Hanks 1/5- A performance like Hanks you either like or hate it, well I hated it. I could not stand what he did in this movie ata ll. it was standard oh look and the sweet low IQ man. He really just trying to much for the cutesy way.

Oscar Nominee Best Supporting Actor Gary Sinise 3/5- Sinise is very good as Lieutenant Dan, He does do a lot of the standard drunk guy stuff, but he works as both the non injured man and the injured man. HE does a good job and makes a good character that very well could have been much more poorly done.
