Not that special, overrated.

Overrated, and it is just not that interesting. The special effects are terrible, the story is bland and uninteresting, and the characters are just cliched. I do not see what is so special about this film at all. It was basically the same scene over and over again. Just in the bar talking, this film is not that special.

Oscar Nominee Best Actor Humphrey Bogart 2/5- An Iconic performance all right but not a great one in my opinion anyways, maybe to the ones who like Bogart. I think he can be great like in the Treasure of Sierra Madre but in this he does nothing too special that is all. Most say it was a part only he could play but how is that precisely.

Oscar Nominee Best Supporting Actor Claude Rains 5/5- Rains is great as the chief of police. And he takes every scene from everyone else. He does get the best lines to but he could have messed those up but he doesn't. His vocal choices are well done and his character could potentially have been stock but he stops that. He is the most interesting character in the film.
