I hate it when movies treat me like a moron, as this one does. I haven't read the book and after this film I've no wish to. The meaning of the sybolism they piont out in the movie is wrong, I have a symbolism dictionary cause I'm a geek, not one thing they point out is correct. the pentagram does not mean the "divine female", it symbolizes marriage or ballance of the sexes.
If you want a movie that talks about a relative of christ watch Dogma. Kevin Smith seems to have done a little bit more research.
