Marvelous Moon Madness
3.5/4 stars "Moon" is essentially "Cast Away" in space and a rather impressive film to boot. "Moon" exceeds as a drama, mystery and a sci-fi film. With a 15 million dollar budget, "Moon" shows you get a lot of a little. ( Michael Bay...please take note). This indie sci-fi movie takes cues from classic sci-fi movies of the 80's such as "2001: A Space Oydessy" and "Slient Running", yet is able create something incredibly unique and original. The directing from Duncan Jones is one of the most strongest debuts from a director in a long time. He could honestly be the next great sci-fi director. In my opinion, Sam Rockwell is the most underrated actor working today, with such memorable turns in "Snow Angels", "Choke", "The Green Mile", and "Galaxy Quest". He does a remarkable job in a award cailber performance. Not a lot of actors in Hollywood could pull of this performace, but Rockwell does. Sam Rockwell's performance is best thing about this movie and it will be a crying shame if he doesnt receive an oscar nomination. There is also some excellent voice work from Kevin Spacey as a robot named Gerty. Review by MovieGuy878 |
