The film of the 80's
3/4 stars A truly beautiful film charting the loss, alienation, isolation of Travis, who we first see walking the desert with scraggy beard and dead eyes, and his slow redemption. This film is about loss, forgiveness and redemption, told with searing honesty and with nuanced light touches throughout, Wenders delivers one of his most memorable and commercial films. Winner of the Palme d'or in 1984, Paris, Texas represents a seminal moment in Wenders career, with music from Ry Cooder and a script by Sam Shepard, everything blends together to make a deeply personal and touching film.
