Plot: Guy Maddin does his best take on German expressionism: in the small Alpine village of Tolzbad the people must go about life quietly lest they bring about destruction in the form of an avalanche. But the repressed style also leads to repressed emotions but when those emotions are acted on duels, suicides and more add up. -- Chris Kavan
