Finally got the chance to view this with my 1 year old who isn't that interested because of the subtitles but enamored with the beauty of its contents. The plot revolves around professor Tatsuo Kusukabe and his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei. They transfer into a new house, visit their sick mother, and the girls meet magical creatures that have powers and loves nature. The humor with Totoro (leaf, happiness using an umbrella, etc.) was effective, Mei was adorable and the mature Satsuki were well presented. This is one of the most loveable and provocative anime's this reviewer has seen. Score and plot were wonderful and messages of caring for your family member, mother nature giving back and family were exhibited well by Miyazaki. Totoro was even seen in Toy Story 3 because of its worldwide appeal. My Neighbor Totoro can be enjoyed by the family not only for its enchanting visuals, humor, cute characters but also its message.
