Sure, you can write this off as a blatant attempt to copy Alien, but it's actually not that bad. The alien design is pretty good and it has plenty of tension to keep things going. The big-name actors aren't given nearly enough, especially top-billed Ryan Reynolds, who doesn't stick around that long. Rehashing aside, it's still a decent sci-fi thriller with a killer ending that, sadly, does not have anything to do with Venom.
