Yet another best movie of the year nominee at the upcoming Oscar Awards this Feb. so this is the first year i am working on watching all the said nominated films before i watch the awards show itself. Now that being said i have to admit that musicals are not my cup of tea. Of all the musicals i have seen in my life the only one i really enjoyed was 1978's Grease starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, let's just say it's one of my guilty pleasures (lol i even have the soundtrack buried in my memory banks so anytime the movie airs i drive my kids batty) So with that in mind i got through the latest version of the Victor Hugo classic novel.

Although finding this movie really dull in parts i must say that the cast were nothing short of stellar, with the exception for the part of Javert (Russell Crowe) sorry to say i didnt think casting Crowe in this part was a wise decision as the guy can't really sing that well. Either then that the rest did a brillaint job with kudos going to Hugh Jackman, the more i watch Jackman's films the more i am seeing what a talented human being this dude really is.

Storyline isn't the happiest of subjects (Title tells all) although if you, much like myself, enjoy strong performances from actors no matter how the rest of the movie is in your opinion then by all means give this a watch.
