World War Z

A solid intense zombie film

Zombies: World War Z is a gory thriller. At one point of time, when things get unleashed, I was wondering, how is this going to end. Luckily I am relieved and in fact I give a strong statement that Pitt pulled it off with his guts and charm. Gory scares: Director Marc Foster (after a poor take on James Bond) has brought back the zing to the hardly unbelievable film that gets brownie points for its novel take on the zombie genre. It did not knock me off, but Foster adds a certain element of hope to put this a perfect film. The undead are really gory, and another great thing I liked about is the speed with which they run and attack. Whole some summer fun! Who takes the role? It is Brad Pitt. I am certainly confused of Pitt taking such films with lot of CGI, but hey he did a wonderful job. Nothing charming, but a plot of such intense, it was compelling from Pitt. The big summer set pieces are right from the Philadelphia entrance, where suddenly a truck goes crazy hitting cops, followed by the Israel gate storming (Oh my God! That one was hell). The tense continued to the air plane attack, and here I give a serious note. Entirely cinematic. Puzzling factor: The entire plane crashes with speed, but hey no explosion. Something weird, but do I need to think about it in a summer film.

Pitt knows to take such roles (an ex U.N service man with lot of field training) and he pulls it off in style and charisma. At the crucial juncture of the film where Pitt finds the key to solve the problem, the film moves further up. As tense and eerie it goes, the zombies assault the team, but Pitt has a smile of confidence there. He did that~ I am not going for it too serious. What if things go the other way? What if did not work? This is smart from Foster. The tension, the agony, the perfect character development and the hopeful climax adds this zombie film an extra mark. When warm bodies showed the light weight character and the human –undead relation to great use, World War Z takes the seriousness to find a solution as the undead are out of control. Sit tight folks! This film is tailor made for summer escapism. If the message at the end is really going to come in future, better stay awake. Smart, intense, and powered up with Pitt’s ambitious performance, World War Z is another fresh take to the zombie genre.
