Aspiring Actor

Hi all,

For a university project I'm trying to find movie scenes in which one (or more) of the characters clearly expresses a specific emotion. It's about the following emotions. I included the definition of the emotion as it is used in our study.

To experience a painful desire for another's possessions or benefits.

To experience intense dislike of a physically or morally indigestible object or situation.

To experiencing a lack of motivation or willingness to engage in a certain activity.

So I'm looking for scenes where a character is experiencing one (not all) of these emotions.

Any recommendations are very welcome! Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking that there are many scenes that fit Envy in the movie "Mean Girls." 10/30/2012

There is a 2004 movie titles Envy with Jack Black and Ben Stiller, however, my money is on Amadeus (despite the fact it's historically inaccurate).

For Reluctance - take your pick of any teen-centric coming-of-age film... but since it's Halloween I'm going with Carrie - the ending is still on my top 10 for best horror shocker.

Disgust -  usually I associate this in a negative way - more like contempt than disgust if you will - any movie where there is a force that thinks they are superior to another has disgust - the most powerful scene that comes to mind is Schindler's List

"I would like so much to reach out to you and touch you in your loneliness. What would it be like, I wonder? What would be wrong with that? I realize that you are not a person in the strictest sense of the word, but, um, maybe you're right about that too. Maybe what's wrong, it's not us, it's this... I mean, when they compare you to vermin, to rodents and to lice. I just, uh, you make a good point. You make a very good point. Is this the face of a rat? Are these the eyes of a rat? "Hath not a Jew eyes?" I feel for you Helen. No, I don't think so. You Jewish bitch, you nearly talked me into it, didn't you?"

Although disgust can often be used in a comedic setting as well: think Ghostbusters - "He Slimed Me."

That's what I've got.

In general, I would recommend sampling indie and foreign films.  With foreign films, (even if you don't speak the language), the actors' faces can truly convey the emotions (of the character/scene/situation ).

The Intouchables is one of my favorite movies and by the way, it shows a great pile of emotions. Actually, i suppose you can find smth here http://https://www.bestad movies-on-netflix-based-o n-a-true-story . I've seen the half of this list and lived so many incredible moments and experiences. Basically, I believe films based on true stories are really emotional and you will surely find smth for your project.  01/29/2018
