The Bourne Legacy is a weak film that exists as nothing more than a sore tit hanging from a cash cow that's spent already.  Bourne Identity through Bourne Ultimatum had a complete story, told well.  The first thirty minutes is a redundant back-and-forth between Renner walking around snow and trees, and Edward Norton delivering the same speech three times about "how serious this situation is".  The plot is finally found roughly 45 minutes in, and then rushes to an anti-climactic final chase scene in which the hero and the girl escape with nothing more than a few scratches.  A terrible waste of time, the script was so bad that Matt Damon stayed away from it entirely, which is why Renner was hired.  Although Edward Norton is clearly the villain, he has no interaction with Renner, which in turn gives the audience nothing to go on that this conflict will have any conclusion.  And that's how the movie ends, without a conclusion to the conflict.

1st of all his last name is Renner, not Ryans. You dont know much about Renner if thats your opinion. Overall, I believe he is a better overall actor than Damon. He started his career a little later, but the dude can act and can play a badass. Hes great in the Hurt Locker and The Town to name just a couple. I think he is more believable and can play more different types of characters than Damon. I like Damon a lot and hes made a lot of great flicks, but Renner is the man now and you will see in the near future this dude will be play some great parts and start to get the real recognition he deserves.

Jeremy Renner is great as Aaron Cross. he's younger, more likable and
in better shape than Matt Damon, at least in Ultimatum where Damon was
overweight. He's also less wooden in his interactions with other
people.

I am just a little disappointed with the fact that they have replaced Matt Damon with Jeremy Ryans. They could have replaced him with some better choice.

Not to completely hijack my own thread, but great to hear that "The Campaign" was good. The trailers, the red band one especially, made it look like Will Ferrell was back in true form. We were planning to see "The Campaign" this weekend but it's too freakin' gorgeous outside to pass up enjoying the mild summer weather.

I like Jeremy Renner, but I think they should have just left the "Bourne" title off and started with a whole new movie instead of trying to tie it to the other films. I still kind of want to check this out, but I don't see it being much more than a typical, generic action flick. It's still too early to judge reviews - I'm guessing we won't know for sure until Friday what the overall reaction is going to be.I can say that I really liked The Campaign - it's been awhile since I had a good laugh, and that movie hit the right spot.

Have there been any early reviews about this yet? Other than trailers on television and what not the buzz about this has been kind of mild.Personally, I'm on the fence as to if I want to see it or not. Unlike "The Campaign" which I really want to see that weekend, I'm skeptical if it can live up to the the others in the "Bourne" series without Matt Damon. I'm not really getting a lot from the trailers (there's a good collection of Bourne Legacy videos here: http://www.ranker.com/lis t/the-bourne-legacy-movie -quotes/movie-and-tv-quot es) since most of them are the same thing over and over but the fact that they are relying on a 'genetic alteration' to make this fresh kind of throws a flag of desperation. I really shouldn't judge before seeing it but how often do you see the fourth movie in a series and think that it's really awesome?Thoughts?
