Got
a chance to talk to actor Ariel Felix about his role in "A Thousand
Words." Here's what he said:
Tell me about your role in A THOUSAND WORDS
Ariel: I play a Jr. Agent
who has a couple of dealings with Eddie Murphy's character. He plays
a high profile literary agent and it follows him after he stretches the truth
on a deal. Aside from the film being funny, it holds a good lesson
on the consequences of every word we speak. And for the record, I didn't
pattern my character after my agents. ;-)
In real life, are you similar or different from your
character's personality?
Ariel: I try to inject a
little bit of myself in the characters I play, so there's some similarity.
Was it hard trying to keep a straight face on set with Eddie Murphy?
Ariel: At times,
definitely. At times, definitely. I'm a big fan and there were times when
they'd be setting up a shot and I'd look over to Eddie who looks to be focusing
on what he has to do in the upcoming scene, and all these great characters he
played would come to mind and it would crack me up. This one instance I remember a crew guy
asking me what was so funny and I was like, "...Any boob can run a daycare
center...!"
How was working with director Brian Robbins?
Ariel: It was cool, man.
I actually ended up auditioning for a TV project he was directing months
after filming for "A Thousand Words" wrapped. We talked about it a
little bit.
Any funny or unusual stories you can tell us about from behind the scenes?
Ariel: There's one scene in
particular where I had to go up and down this long staircase in "the
agency" to say something to Eddie. I don't even know how many takes
we did, but after the 5th time, I remember thinking that I could definitely be
in better cardio shape!
What's your favorite movie snack?
Ariel: Large popcorn with
butter, KitKat or Nestle Crunch bar (or both) and a Coke.
Overall, I'm not so sure about the film, but Ariel sure was a good sport!
