Now listen I'm an Angelina Jolie fan ( I must be god knows I've spent a lot of time defending her), and iyt goes without saying I'm a Johnny Depp fan (who isn't really?). So I gladly agreed to go watch this movie (a first date no less), the way i figured was Johnny Depp and Jolie in one movie the makings of a classic. I was all excited, didn't even mind the pushing and shoving to get into the packed cinema, even felt superior to the idiots that wasn't smart enough to buy their tickets online like i did, my immense and overwhelmingly perceptive third eye foresaw this being a sold out affair (after all it was 2 for 1 day at the Carib Theatre). I was all snug standing there in the pre-purchased ticket line that was considerably shorter and less disheveling. So fast forward to me finding a great seat smack dab int he middle of the theatre, popcorn check, large soda, check, hershey bar check date check, he was even cuter in the dim romantically hazy lights of the cinema. Curtains draw commercial, previews lights go out movies start...and that's where the excitement ended for me i'm afraid. It was like bad sex, predictable and anti-climatic, during intermission I seriously contemplated leaving, but I held out hope that they would clinch it in the ending, Jolie/Depp wouldn't disappoint so excruciatingly bad would they?  But alas it was not to be. I left the theatre thinking I should have watched Narnia 3D.

Golden Globe nominations are heavily weighted on the stars in the film. I think "The Tourist" was nominated (but not seen) because of Depp and Jolie. When "The Tourist" was announced, loud gasps followed.  Also, Depp recently had an interview in which he said he deliberately held back in scenes with Jolie because he did not want tabloid rumors to start. This really made the film flat.

God only knows. I saw it, and it was a poor man's Hitchcock. It shouldn't be nominated for ANYTHING.
