A great historical (loosely based) adventure movie. Gladiator has a good story and is shot great. Joaquin Phoenix is great as the scary and kind of creepy emperor. Russell Crowe makes a good gladiator. Overall, this is a fun and fairly dramatic action movie

Who cares if it is historically inacurate, it bloody brilliant, Crowe is superb, but Phoenix is better. Excellent all round.

Another outstanding performance by Russell Crowe as Maximus along with the excellent and detailed direction by Ridley Scott combines to make this #7 in my Top Movie list. The battle sequences seem very realistic and made me believe I was there. Richard Harris played Caesar remarkably. Buut it was Joaquin Pheonix that stole the show. His performance as Commodus made him a star ( Not a rapper). Oliver Reed died during filming and his role the rest of the movie was computer engineered. A fantasic and historic film!! A must see.. You won't be disappointed!!

I'm not much of a critic so you will find that most of my comments are positive. One of the best movies ever made! Russell Crowe did an outstanding job in this movie. The battle sequences are very realistic. Great and inspiring movie! It got me more interested in Rome and how they gained and lost their power. I took a trip to Rome Italy this last year and was even more inspired by being there next to the colosseum. Great movie

The film is great for so many reasons. It touches so many right buttons, the great moments almost spill over the top. Russell Crowe is great but Joaquin Phoenix is better. He's so convincing as an intimidating weakling that i enjoy watching him more. Some great action scenes, and around it all is one of the best scores of our time, by Hans Zimmer. A remarkable achievement.

A great award winning movie which is actually deserving of an award. I am a huge fan of Oliver Reed and sadly this movie was madee shortly before his death. Crowe reached badass status from this movie and romper stomper. I am happy when a movie that shows violence of this magnitude and takes it to the next level. I could have sat and watched it for 2 hours more.

Great action and story line, actors draw you into the plot. Richard Harris is great in this one along with Russell Crowe. Ridley Scott does it again directing.

Great action drama with incredible acting. Phoenix is outstanding as the corrupt Caesar. Crow is amazing and endearing as the wronged hero. An ultimate story of extracting justice for the hero. Does have gruesome battle scenes.
