Blade Runner is a remarkable but confusing classic with great performance by Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer.

We showed this film at University to our Theater Arts Club (we showed the director's cut by the way) and once the credits rolled a girl named Jenny stood up and exclaimed, "What the hell does that mean?!?" With a wry smile we simply repeated one of Harrison's best lines: "How can you not know what you are?" Chalk this one up to being a thinking man's sci-fi journey to finding the cradle of the soul, which shows a disturbing futuristic version of Los Angeles, and where the only redeeming values to being human are the facts that when one murders it is called "retirement" and when one is born one lives longer than about 4 years.

For me Ridley Scott is a master director that is always able to create new and interesting world's that pull the viewer in. This film is no exception and I loved everything about it. Harrison Ford is great as the hard nosed gritty detective investigating the main case of the film. I also love Ridley's direction as far as Sci Fi goes this film is definitly a classic and in my opinion more poignant than the original Star Wars films. The script is well written and the cinematography is brilliant, if you haven't seen this masterpiece check it out right away, and get ready to be swept up into the dark and gloomy world of Blade Runner.

Maybe it's because I'm not a Sci-Fi fan, but this moved too slow and just wasn't that enjoyable. And apparently, LA in 2019 is going to be taken over by the Japanese.

I didn't get in the first time I watched it and I still don't. I suppose if you like science fiction you can watch this and maybe enjoy it. It was boring to me.

There's a lot to dislike about this movie - slow pace, dark cinematography, a sometimes hard to follow story. However, you will get completely sucked in to this dark, futuristic thriller in which Harrison Ford is hired to "retire" rogue replicants, who turn out to be androids devoid of any emotion. A good story with great actors (nice to see Sean Young before she went nuts), this is a pretty good film. It's interesting to watch movies such as this which came out over 25 years ago that depict what the future could look like.

I thought that the opening was very good and it went downhill very fast. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy it.

Great, great movie. If it's Ridley Scott's only great movie does that make it any less great? The scene where the naked Zhora wearing her transparent plastic raincoat dies falling through all those glass panes is simply perfect filmmaking - not because of some formalist ideal or other fodder for intellectuals or specialists, but because it is an intelligent, poignant and even beautiful highlight within a grippingly and personally relevant work of art. I've watched Blade Runner more times than any other movie.

I totally agree with the others reviews. The atmosphere, created by the music and the great scenarios is hypnotic. I love hypnotic movies because they has this capability of putting you inside of it...it's like you're lost for those 2 hours. It's a great adaptation from the book. Try to watch both, theatrical and Director's cut, so you can have a wide perception of the meaning. The ending itself worth a entire movie. Really looking forward to re-release on DVD.

You may think you know about the nature of man and humanity in general, but dig deeper into Blade Runner, and it just may raise a few questions you wouldn't expect. A sci-fi classic that should not be missed.
