Although pretty "by the numbers," Captain America manages to harness enough nostalgic 40's serial spirit that it's a fun and exciting entry into the Marvel universe. I found the pacing uneven at times (the film is certainly front-loaded with Cap's origin story, which makes the second half seem rushed at times,) but the final sequence was fantastic, albeit serving just to set up the Avengers movie.

It took me a while to finally see it, but I’m very glad I did. I was shocked at how great this movie is. The acting is top-notch, and I was pleasantly surprised with Chris Evans' performance. However, what surprised me the most was the story. I wasn’t expecting to truly care for the characters, but I did because this movie has a lot of heart. I was actually interested about the end results, when normally I end up zoning out to all of the mayhem going on. Overall, this is easily one of my favorite superhero movies, and I never thought I would be saying that about ol' Captain America.

I didn't know what to expect going into this movie. I didn't have high expectations since Thor and Green Lantern were pretty disappointing for comic book movies. But out of the Avenger films so far, this is the best. It has great story, and flows well. It kept me entertained throughout. It by no means is the best movie of the year, but it does deserve some credit. I do recommend seeing this film.

A decent movie, and a good introductory story of Captain America, though at times I felt the whole purpose of the film was simply to set up next year's The Avengers. Chris Evans is pretty good as Steve Rogers/Captain America, and the supporting cast is strong, particularly Hugo Weaving as the villainous Red Skull. I wasn't particularly fond of the ending, especially the Nick Fury cameo jammed at the end, but for the most part, Captain America is pretty entertaining.

What can I say. I wasn't blown away by this movie. I would say it's well done, a good origin story. Although I haven't researched the "true" origin story in the comics, wasn't a big comic fan of his. Anyway, I like the tie into The Avengers. I thought it was well acted, some good fight sequences. I liked it better than Thor, except Thor had more attractive ladies, if that matters to you. (It would be nice if you could somehow tie these reviews to Facebook, Google+. At least a partial review and a link to this site to read the rest)

I thought it was good. But, there was just something about it that was missing. I can't quite put my finger on it though. Maybe it was the rather lackadaisical climax.

In the vein of 'Indiana Jones', it captures that spirit of older action serial films from the 40s and 50s. It's a good comic adaptation that fulfills expectations and provides a great deal of WWII nostalgia. A fun show of heroism and patriotism.
