This could be subtitled The Mickey Rourke Story. It's touching and emotional, you feel for Randy "The Ram" as he tries to cling onto the last remnants of his broken life. It also gives you an insiders perspective of just how "fake" wrestling actually is.

I never liked wrestling. Is one of the very american stuff that didnt dig. Not for any bad judge on it, but simply because i don't get it and it doesnt appeal to me. So, I started watching this, not expecting too much. And I'm glad i did it in this way because it helped to see the movie in the right perspective. Aronofsky... well, i love the guy. I think is one of the best directors ever and really loved every single flick he made. This film is awesome. The reasons are- The music, the direction technic, the acting, and the script. Fantastic. I knew i was going to be moved by Mickey, but not that much, dude! Ive to say, this film is a must see. Is not a 10/10 to for the first 40 min (not bad done at, but... hey, i just gave you my reason).

I love to watch WWE and was interested in this movie. I got the story and what they were trying to do. Throw in Hulk Hogan instead of 'The Ram" and it is the back story of what I watch every Monday night. I thought it was a good 'charater' study and almost reminded me of a documentary. Overall I really didn't enjoy it and felt like it was very long and very boring!

I would say that this movie was horrible because of the ending, but I can't. I wanted so bad to see Randy change his life around and just let Pro-Wrestling go. Get together with Cassidy and become a loving and responsible father to Stephanie. Sometimes life doesn't always work like that. This movie is challenging and daring. Darren Aronofsky took a story about a fictional Pro-Wrestler and made it compelling and exciting. Also, Mikey Rourke gives an amazing performance.

This movie was ok, but never got me on the edge of my seat. It had some good parts, but overall is an over-hyped up oscar flick.

Not quite as good as everyone is making it out to be. But, still pretty damn good. Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood always play in good movies. So, it's well worth watching.

I really wanted to like this film but it just did not play out that well. The wrestling scenes are terrific, and the scenes with him at the Delhi are great also. In fact the performances are all great but the parts involving the female characters are not fully developed and the film is left too open ended. I do not mean they need to wrap everything up but it just lacked any sort of last thought on anything causing it to be very disappointing.

Mickey Rourke is pretty good in this redemption story of a wrestler trying to find his place in life. Rourke plays "The Ram," a popular wrestler in the 80s still holding on to his talents. When a heart attack sidelines him from the ring, he searches for a place in society for a washed up wrestler who knows nothing but how to compete in the fake ring of pro wrestling. This leads him to seek a relationship with a stripper friend (Tomei, who's character really comes to life halfway through the film) and his daughter (Wood). Other than a couple brutal wrestling scenes that left me wincing, The Wrestler is not only a good film but features a great performance from Mickey Rourke that shouldn't be missed.

Action: 3/3 + Comedy: 0.5/2 + Good vs Evil: 1/1 + Love/Sex: 1/1 + Special Effects: 1/1 + Plot: 1/1 + Music: 1/1 = 8.5/10 or 85%. Mickey Rourke is absolutely phenomenal in the lead and it will be a travesty if he doesn't get nominated and win the best actor oscar for 2008. Aronofsky has improved though the actors and the concept of the movie nearly overwhelm him at the end. Regardless, the Wrestler is a story of wasted redemption that stays with you and reminds one how harsh life is when one is no longer in the spotlight.
