Plot: Apple Bailey is a street-wise 16-year-old who lives with an abusive mother - an addict and prostitute. The determined and spirited young woman doesn't want her life to turn out like her mother, and so she seeks out her estranged father. Now a Wall Street stockbroker he initially lets her in - but when he learns Apple is pregnant, and wants to keep her child, he turns her away as well. Forced back to the streets, Apple is nearly killed, but a kindly chaplain offers to take her to a shelter where she will find a new family - and maybe a way to liver her life the way she wants. -- Chris Kavan
