Plot: The 10-year-old Wadjda is a headstrong, enterprising Saudi girl who pushes her parents to the limits in a conservative country. After getting in trouble for playing with a local boy, she spies a green bicycle she wants - even though bicycles are frowned upon for women. With her parents unwilling to buy it for her, she comes up with a few ideas to raise the money herself - when this backfires she thinks all is lost... but there is a Koran recitation competition at her school. -- Chris Kavan
