Dances With Wolves review

Re-watching again after viewing this as a kid. The story revolves around First Lieutenant John J. Dunbar (Kevin Costner) who still hasn't found his own identity. He then meets an injured Stands With A Fist (Mary McDonnell), and returns her to his Sioux neighbors. Dunbar also meets Kicking Bird (Graham Greene) and Wind In His Hair (Rodney A. Grant). The cinematography was just gorgeous and the action sequences realistic. It had some dull moments such as the overemphasized love scenes between the Lieutenant and Stands With A Fist and the journal search. The gunning of one of the antagonists that was surrounded obviously felt choreographed. Costner had the correct decision to encourage the writer of the original script and turn it into a novel in which he acquired the rights. Had some note worthy quotes like: "I was just thinking that of all the trails in this life, there are some that matter most. It is the trail of a true human being." and "Our country is all that we have, and we will fight to keep it." Dances With Wolves may have its certain brilliance, but not that entertaining in a sense. Still its themes of fighting for your land, family, friendship and cruelty has been portrayed beautifully by Costner.
