Buddy Buddy review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 07/11/13

A suicidal Victor Clooney (Jack Lemmon) meets a serious hitman named Trabucco (Walter Matthau). The plot was inventive but the execution, screenplay and pacing could have been better. You always get solid performances from Lemmon and Matthau regardless of their roles, this however had less onscreen chemistry impact unlike The Odd Couple. It also lacks effective humor much like The Apartment. Something seems to be missing from this crime comedy that also touches on marriage, having guts and friendship. It was unbelievable that the caliber of Wilder can create such a mediocre picture that involves constant swearing, a topless girl in the conclusion and a deranged wife who consults a neurotic psychiatrist. Buddy Buddy is only worth watching for the acting of the leads and some laughs if you don't take it too seriously.
