The Ten Commandments review

"So it was written..So it shall be done." Revisiting an old classic which is considered one of the pioneers for special effects. Moses (Charlton Heston) discovers his roots, born a Hebrew but raised by an Egyptian princess. Only minor qualms this reviewer had were the over acting of certain artists, love angles, Hollywood exaggerations, some ridiculous scenes due to poor dialogue and length. Heston did a splendid job in his portrayal. The score was wonderful and wardrobe elegant. Despite some dated special effects, it was still fascinating to see onscreen. Screenplay was exceptional with lines: "You have wisdom. You need nothing more." - Jethro, We're not animals. We are men." - Old man in the mud, "Life is full of surprises." - Seti. and "Joshua, we must have hope." - Lilia. A film of faith, love, religious idols, evil, motherhood, belief, freedom and of course, The Ten Commandments. An epic that is always vibrant because of its meaningful messages, pioneering special effects and sincere performances.
