High Noon review

This reviewer had high hopes for this popular western classic. Viewing several before this may have affected the rating since there were so much better in terms of pace, action and character development. Will Kane (Gary Cooper) gets married to Quaker Amy Fowler (Grace Kelly). The news of criminal Frank Miller (Ian MacDonald) comes to town. Cooper was sincere in the role and the build up for the antagonist and suspense were good. Wardrobe and score were wonderful. Unfortunately, that leads to the films weak-point since Frank wasn't ruthless when shown on screen and Grace Kelly under utilized. The conclusion felt rushed based and shoot-out lacks impact. Even the people in the town were uncooperative. Screenplay could have been tweaked to improve the film. Overall, High Noon maybe popular but doesn't live up to its hype. An average western about bravery.
