The Killer Inside Me (review)

A dark noir thriller with an unexpected conclusion and black humor for its genre. Deputy Sheriff Lou Ford (Casey Affleck) was asked to check on a prostitute Joyce Lakeland (Jessica Alba). After a murder things go hairy and Howard Hendricks (Simon Baker) tries his best to resolve the murders. Amy (Kate Hudson) suspects something is going on with Lou. Screenplay was good with lines: "You know, I figure that you don't get any more out of life than what you put into it." and "Haste makes waste." Only qualms this reviewer had were the overdone lovemaking scenes (unlike Lost Highway it connected to the plot) and dialogue somewhat repetitive. Casey Affleck was effective and chilling. Hudson despite her acting range was not fully utilized here. The Killer Inside Me is a crime flick about being a cold-hearted killer, deception and justice. Not in the level of Seven, Lost Highway, The Naked City or Dial M for Murder, it does nevertheless entertains from beginning to end.
