True Grit (1969)
True Grit (1969) review
2.5/4 stars
Mattie (Kim Darby) travels to Fort Smith to hire U.S. Marshal Reuben "Rooster" J. Cogburn (John Wayne) to avenge her father’s murder. Some of the background characters and unnecessary scenes kept the picture somewhat lengthy. Action sequences, score and cinematography were wonderful. If only there were more likable characters and action for this western. True Grit is an authentic film of its genre with a rare strong leading lady in a young Kim Karby, Hopper and Duvall.
