Hit List (2011) review

Charlotte (Shirly Brener) had hostility issues by creating a journal of people to kill. Her first boyfriend is Chad who was vain, demanding and insensitive. She then meets Lyle (Joey Lawrence), who she had similar interests with and is an independent contractor. Soundtrack was upbeat from the very start and narration was detailed. Screenplay was refreshing and the comment about Godfather III, proposal scene, conversation of the couple about Lyle’s job and quip on the video store cashier (“See you soon”) was hilarious. One of the best lines: “You have to take the good with the bad.” and “How good is somebody when he’s dead?” Brener and Lawrence had good onscreen chemistry and comedic timing. The picture reminded me of Grosse Point Blank with less humor and less inferior soundtrack. Hit List nevertheless is a good dark comedy about a hit man and weird girl finding love and getting even with irritating figures that contribute to society’s tribulations.
