Shadows & Lies review

William Vincent (who is really Joseph) writes to Ann, and narrates his story. He is a pickpocket who edits nature videos for school. Victor introduces himself and invites William to his boss. He informs William to keep distance from Ann. William was tasked to be a messenger of Victor’s boss. Style of direction reminded me of Tree of Life and Drive. A fast forward to four years only to lead with disappointment just irritates the patient viewers. Soundtrack was descent and the dialogue was unimpressive. Artists showed dexterity and symbolism's of the hummingbird were sometimes overdone. Shadows and Lies could have been better with the right screenplay.
